Statement from the WSHRC regarding Charlottesville, VA

Posted:  Aug 14, 2017
The Washington State Human Rights Commission works to ensure that everyone has the right to be free from discrimination. The events in Charlottesville, VA are tragic and a reminder that there is still much that needs to be done to educate and eradicate the prejudices that perpetuate hate and bigotry in this country. It is unconscionable and unacceptable that in this day and age our country has not learned from the long and arduous history of oppression and racism.

We are deeply grieved by these senseless acts of hate and stand with our state and local officials in condemning the actions of those in Charlottesville, VA.

Our hearts go out to the families and loved ones of the victims of this senseless act of violence and hatred.
